When you talk to us, you’re getting the truth. We don’t tell you what you want to hear. We’ll tell you your real legal options.

Our firm is based in Birmingham, serving clients throughout Jefferson County and across Alabama. Whether you’re facing felony charges, fighting for custody, or navigating immigration court, we bring focus, honesty, and skill to every case.

The Cases We Fight For

We handle complex legal matters that require skilled strategy and courtroom experience.

01

Criminal Defense

Serious charges demand serious representation. We handle state and federal criminal cases from capital murder and murder charges, to drug trafficking and violent felonies, to white-collar and post-conviction matters. When your freedom is on the line, you need an attorney who knows how the courtroom really works.

02

Family Law

We take on contested divorces, custody disputes, and DHR (state removal) cases. These cases are never simple, but we keep your goals at the center of every decision. If the state took your children or your case is turning combative, we’ll help you find a way forward.

03

Immigration

We handle immigration cases in and out of court, including applications, petitions, and mandamus actions when the government fails to act. Our defense attorneys are fluent in English and French, and have translation services for nearly any language. We help families and individuals protect their right to stay and build a life here.

04

Appeals

We take on appeals that deserve a second look, not because of the outcome, but because the law may have been applied unfairly. We study the record, research the issues, and create a strategy to defend your rights.

Built for the Courtroom
“Call me when you’re ready to fight. I don’t shy away from trial. I build every case like it’s going there, and that’s the only way to be ready when it does."

Putting Out the Fires
"Most of the people who come to me are in the middle of a mess: criminal charges, family issues, deportation risks. My job is damage control. I take the chaos and turn it into a plan. That’s what I’m good at.”

Strategy First
“I’ll never tell someone I can guarantee a result, because in my areas of law, no one can. What I can do is show you the path, prepare for every possibility, and fight for the best legal outcome your case allows.”

Committed to the Craft
“If I’m better, your case is better. That’s why I keep learning. I go to CLEs, I study changes in the law, and I stay sharp. Clients deserve that. It's about knowing the law inside and out.”

Focused on What Matters
“We fight hard, but we fight smart. Every motion, every argument, every question in court has a purpose. I don’t waste words or time, everything I do ties back to the outcome we’re after.”

Our FAQs

Here’s what you should know about our approach and the types of cases we handle across Alabama.

Am I the right fit to work with Milad Law?

Most of our clients come to us with serious problems and a real desire to fix them. If you’re ready to listen to honest advice, follow through on next steps, and let an experienced attorney take the lead, you’re in the right place.

What kinds of cases does Milad Law handle?

We represent clients in:

  • Criminal defense (including felony, federal, and capital cases)
  • Family law, including contested divorces, custody disputes, and DHR/state removal cases
  • Immigration matters, from applications and petitions to asylum defense and mandamus actions
  • Appeals, including criminal and select civil appeals

Based in Birmingham, we serve clients throughout Jefferson County and across Alabama.

Do you take federal cases?

Yes. Federal criminal cases require a very different skill set and procedure than state cases — and not every lawyer is ready for that.

Luckie Milad regularly handles both, offering clients representation built on real courtroom experience.

Do you take on uncontested or simple divorces?

Most family cases we handle are contested or complex, involving child custody, assets, or state involvement (DHR). If your case requires litigation, our experience in trial courts gives you an advantage.

Can you help if the state took my children?

Yes. These cases are known as DHR removals or dependency actions, and they can be deeply emotional and legally complicated. We fight to make sure parents understand their rights, meet the court’s requirements, and have every opportunity to reunite with their children.

Do you handle immigration cases that require court appearances?

Yes. While many immigration attorneys focus only on applications, we also handle court appearances and mandamus suits — meaning if the government fails to act on your case, we’ll take legal steps to push it forward.

What if I’m not sure I even have a case?

That’s exactly what a consultation is for. We’ll review the facts, explain what’s realistic, and let you know whether it’s worth pursuing. There’s no pressure, no sales pitch, just a straightforward assessment from a trial attorney who’s seen it all.

What should you do if you or a family member is facing a murder or capital murder charge in Alabama?

These cases move quickly, and the early stages can shape everything that follows. In many situations, the first priority is addressing bond and making sure the accused person does not speak to investigators without legal counsel present. Murder and capital murder cases carry extremely serious penalties, including life imprisonment or death in certain circumstances, so it is important to involve a criminal defense attorney who understands how these cases are investigated and prosecuted.
